Guinea: Military executives trained in national public procurement procedures.

The Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) in Guinea has provided a five-day training course on national public procurement procedures for senior military staff, from 6 to 10 February 2024. This initiative is part of the implementation of the directives issued by President Mamady Doumbouya, who is keen to ensure that transparency prevails in the management of public procurement.

Conakry, 06 February 2024 – As part of its mission to build the capacity of those involved in public procurement, the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) launched a 5-day training course on Tuesday 6 February 2024 for 35 executives from the military administration of the Ministry of National Defence. Led by an international consultant, Nouhou Diallo, the session focuses on national public procurement procedures.

Welcomed in the banqueting hall of the military intendance at Camp Samory Touré, the participants were urged by the Director General of the military intendance, Colonel Gassim Traoré, to seize this opportunity to gain a better understanding of the rules governing public procurement. Colonel Traoré also thanked PPRA for this training initiative through its Training and Technical Support Department (DFAT).

For his part, Moussa Iboun Conté, representing ARMP’s Regulatory Council, returned to the current challenges of public procurement in Guinea, with a view to better equipping the players in the system. Speaking on behalf of ARMP’s Director General, Mr Tierno Fodé Sow, Director of Training and Technical Support, outlined ARMP’s main missions as an Independent Administrative Authority (AAI) responsible for a posteriori control of public procurement. He also stressed the importance of this training to meet the expectations of the President of the Transition, Lieutenant General Mamadi Doumbouya, in terms of efficiency and good governance in the use of public funds.

The training session was finally declared open by Major General Aboubacar Diallo, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of National Defense. He called on participants to make the most of this opportunity.
