The last Session on « Professionalization of Public Procurement and Capacity Building »

On January 27, 2022 at 11 a.m. GMT, the member countries of the Central Africa Sub-regional Public Procurement Network N°1 gathered on Zoom for the central Africa session to ponder over “Professionalization of Public Procurement and Capacity Building”. This sub-region is composed of Cameroon, Burundi, Central Africa Republic, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Madagascar.

Participants at the session were twenty-five and technical and financial partners such as the World Bank, the African Development Bank and the Islamic Development Bank were also around.

The session was quite of great interest as it was enriched with speeches and presentations. The President of the APPN, Ms. Thulile Sifundza gave her opening address and the Secretary General of the network, Ms. Aftar Touré MOROU did the same. As for presentations, there were the ones Mr. Larbi Bennouna, the CEO of SETYM INTERNATIONAL (an organization specialized in capacity building thanks to training programs and technical supports); of Mr. Mounir Maaroufi, the Controller General of public procurement; of Mr. Yakouba Yawouvi AGBAN, the Director of training and technical supports and of Mr. Pierre Lotis NANKEP, the Director of information systems at Cameroon Public Procurement Regulatory Authority.

Following presentations, there were questions & answers, a moment to clarify unclear zones or empower participants to share their own experiences on the topic in their various countries.

The new challenge ahead of the Technical Secretariat of the network is the organization of the English webinar on February 22, 2022 on “Professionalization of Public Procurement Officials through the Training of Trainers”. This is such a great opportunity to attend.
