Arcop resumes its training courses.

Arcop has resumed training courses on public procurement management in Togo. A series of training sessions for members of public procurement management and control units began on 6 May. The aim of this capacity-building is to improve and maintain the performance of managers in charge of public procurement within the contracting authorities, and to enable them to familiarize themselves with innovations in public procurement, in order to contribute to the rationalization and efficiency of public spending. A total of 720 participants will eventually take part in these training courses.

On Monday 6 May 2024, the French Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (ARCOP) began a series of training sessions for members of public procurement management and control units, as
well as technical staff involved in public procurement management within contracting authorities.

The aim of this capacity-building, which began today, is to enhance and maintain the performance of managers in charge of public procurement within the contracting authorities, and to enable
them to familiarize themselves with innovations in public procurement, in order to contribute to the rationalization and efficiency of public spending. Over the course of 24 training sessions, 720 participants will take part in these courses, which will cover topics such as: procedures for awarding, executing and monitoring public contracts, drawing up tender documents, techniques
for awarding public contracts, and monitoring the regularity of public contracts.

The Managing Director of ARCOP, Mr Aftar Touré Morou, urged the participants to be more serious and diligent during the training in order to meet the challenges ahead: “What we are looking for is the quality of public investment, and this quality depends on the way in which the investment is made, and you are responsible for this quality. Because every single franc spent must be done
according to standards. If you are not professional, the budgets that are put in place will not be spent on time and in compliance with the rules.

This series of training sessions is ARCOP’s response to the various problems facing contracting authorities, including a lack of knowledge of the rules and principles governing public procurement,
problems with planning and managing procurement, and the poor quality of consultation documents.

It should be remembered that this capacity-building session will take place over 06 months and will end in October 2024.
