The APPN at the 13th East Africa Procurement Forum April 15-16, 2021
Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda hosted these April 15-16, 2021, the 13th East Africa procurement forum on the theme: “Strengthening integrity and accountability in public procurement for an effective emergency response”. The African Public Procurement Network (APPN) was represented at that high level meeting by its President, Mr. Madoda Mngomezulu and its Technical Secretary, Mr. Aftar Touré MOROU to ponder over the cleaning up of public procurement system as a whole in all countries.
In the forum, the APPN Chair, Mr. Madoda Mngomezulu made a presentation on the network in the deepest details from its inception to future perspectives. And such participation was purposely to work and network for the network visibility at great gatherings for credibility and to facilitate the development and the integration of public procurement thanks to active cooperation between its member countries.
The 13th East Africa Forum in brief
The Kigali forum impressed not only with the welcome, the organization, and the quality of the discussions but also with great resolutions adopted as follows:
- Review and harmonize all legal and regulatory frame touching on emerging procurement
- Accelerate the investment in e-government procurement to leverage on emergency procurement
- Promote local content through public procurement for self-reliance
- Enforce and strengthen ethics and integrity in public procurement to sustain fundament principles governing public procurement
- The next host of the EAPF (14th) is Uganda
