The PPDA, which promotes and supports local MSMEs throughout the country, supported youth entrepreneurship in Mzuzu by sponsoring the summit with MK500,000.

On Friday 8 March 2024, the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Authority (PPDA) participated in the Mzuzu Youth Entrepreneurship Summit held at Springs Valley in the town of Mzuzu. Under the theme “Embracing Green Innovation for Socio-Economic Development: Towards Achieving 2063”, the summit seeks, among other things, to strengthen the use of green ideas to develop the economy and improve the quality of life of young people and Malawi as a nation.

Recognizing the importance of investing in initiatives that foster innovation and economic growth among our young people in achieving the Government of Malawi’s national vision of becoming a “self- reliant, wealthy, middle-income industrialized country by 2030”, the PPDA is proud to announce its support for youth entrepreneurship in Mzuzu by sponsoring the summit with MK 500,000.

The PPDA is implementing the MSME Ordinance 2020, which provides for the promotion and support of local MSMEs across the country. Through initiatives such as the Mzuzu Youth Entrepreneurship Summit, the PPDA aims to create opportunities for young entrepreneurs to thrive and contribute to the growth of our economy. “Our support for the summit underlines our commitment to ensuring the promotion and empowerment of local MSMEs,” emphasizes Dr Chilapondwa. “We believe that by investing in our young people and supporting their entrepreneurial efforts, we can create a more dynamic and inclusive economy for all. Together, we can build a better future for our young people and our nation”, he said.

Edington Chilapondwa, CEO and guest of honour at the event, said he was delighted and inspired by the initiatives taken by the young people. “This summit fits in perfectly with the PPDA’s mandate, particularly as regards the promotion of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Malawi. We are delighted to be associated with the Mzuzu Young Entrepreneurs Summit by sponsoring the event with MK 500,000,” said Dr Chilapondwa
