This amount will be divided between the rail, logistics and road safety sectors, in addition to contracts relating to projects to expand the airports of Agadir, Marrakech and Tangiers, with a budget of 5 billion dirhams, as well as work to extend the high-speed line (LGV) at a cost of around 50 billion dirhams.

Mr Mohammed ABDELJALIL, Minister of Transport and Logistics, took part, alongside Mr Nizar BARAKA, Minister of Equipment and Water and Mr Younes SEKKOURI, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, de l’Emploi et des Compétences, on Thursday 29 February 2024 in Rabat, at the information day on the provisional programme of Building and Public Works (BTP) contracts for the year 2024, organised by the Ministry of Public Works and Water.

In his speech on this occasion, the Minister praised the important role played by companies, design offices, laboratories and all those involved in this sector in national economic growth, investment promotion and job creation.

Mr ABDELJALIL pointed out that the Ministry of Transport and Logistics and the Public Establishments and Enterprises (EEP) under its supervision are overseeing large-scale building and public works projects, particularly in the rail, airport and logistics sectors, stressing that the total amount of investments made in 2023 under public works contracts in the rail transport, airport, road safety and logistics sectors reached 1.6 billion dirhams (MMDhs).

The Minister added that the total investment forecast for 2024 will amount to 2.5 billion dirhams. This amount will be divided between the rail, logistics and road safety sectors, in addition to contracts relating to projects to expand the airports of Agadir, Marrakech and Tangiers, with a budget of 5 billion dirhams, as well as work to extend the high-speed line (LGV) at a cost of around 50 billion dirhams, noting that the provisional program of these investments will be announced as soon as the budgetary funds for these projects have been mobilized.

Mr ABDELJALIL also emphasized the importance of strengthening transparency and good governance in the execution of public contracts, in order to guarantee efficient and effective investment of public funds, stressing that the services of the Ministry and the PEAs under its supervision attach great importance to these principles in the execution of public contracts, while ensuring the required quality, at the lowest possible cost and within the set deadlines, in addition to the transparent and effective implementation of the provisional programs for this year, in accordance with the provisions of the new decree on public contracts.

More than 200 professionals from all sectors of the building and public works industry, ministerial departments, relevant institutions and higher education institutes took part in the event.
