Introduction to the Presentation of Mr. Benson TURAMYE
While sustainable is the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” (by The Sustainable Procurement Institute 2011-2021), Sustainable Public Procurement (SPP) is a process by which public entities seek to achieve the appropriate balance between procuring goods, works and services that provide environmental, social and economic benefits while protecting public health and the environment over their whole life cycle. These are words one can read from the presentation of Mr. Benson TURAMYE, Executive Director – The Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority, during the session by the Technical Secretariat of the African Public Procurement Network (APPN) on July 18, 2024 at 1 p.m. GMT on “Sustainable Procurement Practices – Exploring Strategies for integrating Sustainability into Procurement Processes, focusing on Environmental and Social Impacts”. He introduced the legal framework in Uganda and showed how sustainability is incorporated in the procurement process in his country.
