Togo – INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S RIGHTS DAY

ARCOP supports visually impaired people

To mark International Women’s Rights Day, Arcop organized a number of activities to pay tribute to women, particularly the visually impaired. The event was marked by two main activities: a staff discussion on the theme of the 2024 edition: “Investing in women: picking up the pace”, and the donation of food to the Specialised Teaching Centre for the Blind (CESA) in Kodomé, Lomé.

The Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (ARCOP) organized a number of activities on 8 March to highlight the role of women in society. The event was marked by two main activities: a talk-debate between staff on the theme of the 2024 edition: “Investing in women: picking up the pace”, and the handing over of food to the Specialised Teaching Centre for the Blind (CESA) in Kodomé, Lomé.
The talk-debate provided an opportunity for ARCOP staff to share their personal experiences, discuss the challenges facing women and strategies for overcoming barriers and promoting gender equality.

Women represent the present and the future, and their destiny determines that of the human race. I would like to take this opportunity to invite the women of ARCOP to support the vision of the Head of State, which is to place Togolese women at the centre of national development”, said Mr Aftar Touré MOROU, Managing Director of ARCOP.

In a gesture of solidarity and inclusion, the women of ARCOP also handed over food donations to the Specialised Teaching Centre for the Blind (CESA) in Kodomé. Foodstuffs such as rice and cooking oil were given to the centre to ease the difficulties of its residents and promote their well-being.

This solidarity initiative was welcomed by the center’s managers, who expressed their satisfaction. According to them, this gesture demonstrates the regulatory institution’s commitment to promoting the well-being and empowerment of vulnerable people, particularly the disabled
