Côte d’Ivoire: NPPRA Launches the Audit of 400 Public Procurements in 2019

The National Public Procurement Regulatory Agency (NPPRA) launched on September 22 an audit for public procurement in 2019. It is in the frame of the mission of the NPPRA, in accordance with good governance rules and international norms.

In total, four hundred (400) public procurements, essentially the over-the-counter ones, open bids, restricted tendering and simplified procedures counting for 2019 management and which costed about sixty-nine billion F CFA (F CFA 69 BN) are going to be audited. Those public procurements were contracts from twenty-seven (27) contracting authorities at ministries, state enterprises, local governments, national public institutions, industrial and commercial public institutions, especially the ministry of transport, of culture, of sanitation and health, and the regional council of great bridges

The launching ceremony was presided by Mr. Yacouba Pénagnaba COULIBALY, the Chairman of NPPRA in the presence of the heads of procurement units, technical and financial partners and the audit firm recruited for the audit.

According to M. COULIBALY, the objective of the audit, which is the sixth one, is to guarantee good governance in public procurements in accordance with the provisions of the public procurement code as well as access the application of the procurement procedures and identify the probable distortions in order to propose some recommendations to the public procurement system for greater performance.
