The APPN Second General Assembly: Canceled or Postponed?
Fear not!!! It’s not canceled. It is simply postponed because of the pandemic COVID-19. This is a decision made by the APPN Executive Committee during the online videoconference meeting held on September 2nd, 2020 with the active participation of Mr. Mngomezulu MADODA, the APPN Chairman and Mr. Aftar Touré MOROU, the APPN Technical Secretary.
The postponement is due to the seriousness of the pandemic hindering activities, normal life and healthcare systems with restrictive but precautionary measures taken by governments (for instance border shutdown) in order to prevent risks of contagion.
Eswatini will welcome the APPN second General Assembly next year if COVID-19 ceases. But for the meantime active preparations are made by Eswatini with the Technical Secretariat and all the member countries through organizational meetings online.
Other items were on the agenda of the Executive Committee meeting namely the review of the Regional Action Plan with new upcoming activities for knowledge and experience sharing sessions for capacity building; the Coordinators’ guidelines and due collections.
